Creating a pathway to right relations in philanthropy

The Right Relations Collaborative is for Funder Partners who are ready to liberate capital, address systemic inequities, and shift power alongside Indigenous leaders.

With support from the Council of Aunties, Funder Partners in the Collaborative focus on dismantling white supremacy in philanthropy, developing shared values and infrastructure to help distribute funding more equitably, and co-learning about how to be in right relations with Indigenous partners.

Funder Partners participate through:

  • Joining monthly Funder Connection calls led by the Aunties Council - a non-extractive opportunity to learn and shift practices

  • Contributing to a Pooled Fund that streamlines multiyear, unrestricted support to Indigenous organizations in the Collaborative

  • Reflecting on their “money stories,” unpacking power dynamics in philanthropy, and exploring how to authentically align their investments with their values

Funder Engagement Framework

For Funder Partners, the pathway into relationship with us is through our Engagement Framework. This transparent process is based on the collective values and priorities articulated by the Aunties Council, and supports us to measure new potential Funder Partners against a baseline ethical framework that protects the integrity of the Council and our Indigenous organizations.

If you are a funder who is ready to dig into their money story, build anti-colonial relationships and best practices, and dismantle white supremacy in conventional philanthropy, the Collaborative may provide a pathway to support you on your journey. We encourage you to read the engagement framework and join one of our upcoming webinars for more information.
